If all goes according to plan Splash Valley Aquatic Park should be up and running again in May of 2020. The Park district says repairs and upgrades will be funded with the sale of 2 million dollars in bonds to a Des Moines, Iowa investment group. As far as changes are concerned, Kankakee Valley Park District officials say in the Daily Journal they hope to add a 60 meter swimming pool with diving boards to the park with a depth of 3 to 12 feet, the Lazy River would be replaced with a splash pad. Operating costs are expected to be about 323 thousand dollars a summer on expected revenue of 331 thousand. Corporate sponsorships will be sold to offset the costs more.
