Exelon is saying they may permanently shut down both the Braidwood and Dresden Nuclear power plants. The statement was included in a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The closure of the two would put thousands of high paying area jobs in jeopardy. This could be a ploy by the utility giant to squeeze some money out of the state. Two years ago Illinois officials approved a multi-billion dollar incentive package for Exelon to keep the nukes in the Quad Cities and Clinton up and running.
