First West Nile Case in Kankakee

The Kankakee County Health Department has reported the first human case of West Nile Virus in a Kankakee County resident this year. The mosquito borne virus can cause serious illness in some people so the county health department suggests you wear insect repellant and get rid of any standing water in your yard. Last year 74 counties in Illinois reported West Nile virus including 176 human cases and 17 deaths.
