Government (Libraries)

Benton County, Indiana: Declared a state of emergency.


City Of Watseka: Administration Building closed until further notice.


Economic Alliance of Kankakee County: Shifted to disaster response mode. Staff is working remotely to coordinate with federal, state, and local officials; their workforce, utility, finance, and other core partners; as well as primary employers and small business owners. Their efforts are guided by established disaster response and recovery protocols outlined by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, and International Economic Development Council.


Iroquois County Administrative Center: Effective Monday (4/23) center will be closed to the general public until further notice.  All normal County functions will remain in operation Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Iroquois County Highway Department: Closed to the general public beginning Monday (4/23) until further notice. All normal County functions will remain in operation MondayFriday, 7:30 a.m.4:00 p.m. County Services will be available to the public by appointment only.


Jerome Combs Detention Center: All visitations will be conducted from remote locations until future notice . Also, in house jail programs conducted by outside volunteers have been suspended.


Kankakee County: The Treasurer, County Clerk, and Supervisor of Assessments offices in the County Administration Building on east court street are closed. Visitors will be by appointment only.


Kankakee and Iroquois Counties Circuit Court – Chief Judge Michael D. Kramer of the 21st Circuit Court has announced that many of the civil and criminal cases in the 21st Judicial Circuit, which consists of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties, will be postponed for 30 days. That period runs through April 17th. There will be some emergency cases heard by the courts, but most will be postponed during that period.


Kankakee Public Library – The Kankakee Public Library’s Board of Trustees has decided to temporarily close the library starting Wednesday (4/18). They are tentatively planning to reopen on Tuesday (4/31) at 9 a.m. However, the situation is fluid and an extension of this closing may be necessary. Please refer to the library’s Facebook page or website, lions-online.org, for the most up to date information.

If you have materials currently checked out, fines will not be incurred. Renewals will be automatic and the materials can be returned upon reopening. All programming, meetings, and rentals are postponed during the closing period. If your organization was set to meet at the library please contact them directly for more detailed information

Kentland Public Library: Closed until further notice.


Manteno Public Library: Library will be closed until Thursday (4/30). All programs have been suspended until further notice. Check Facebook for updates.


Newton County: The Newton County Board of Commissioners have ordered all Newton County offices and facilities closed to the public. Anyone that needs to do business with the county will need to make an appointment with the individual office. Public will not be allowed in county buildings or meeting rooms until further notice.


Old Courthouse Museum: Museum closed to the public and April program is postponed.


State of Indiana: Indiana’s primary election will move from Tuesday (5/5) to Tuesday (6/2).  All dates corresponding with the primary election will be moved by 28 days to reflect the new date of the primary.


The Village of Bourbonnais: Administration building and public works facilities are closed to visitors. The police department will remain open.


Village of Manteno: Easter Egg Dash cancelled and due to the unknown future, we will not be rescheduling.


Hospitals

Gibson City Hospital: Instituting COVID-19 protocol. All visitors will be screened and anyone with a temperature over 100 will be refused entry. Additionally visitors are being limited to legal guardians of minors and end of life hospice visits. Everyone must enter the hospital through the main lobby or ER. All other doors will be locked.

Governor’s State University: Campus closed and all courses have moved to a virtual environment. For updates check the website.

Kankakee Community College: Facilities closed. Classes shifted to online-based coursework until the end of the Spring 2020 semester. Credit online classes until Tuesday (7/14) and Online Summer Classes start Monday (6/1).


Limestone Township Library District: Closed until further notice.


South Newton School Corporations: E-learning days through Friday (5/22).


The University of Illinois – All commencement ceremonies at their Urbana-Champaign, Springfield, and Chicago locations have been cancelled.

B & J Sewing and Quilting Center: Temporarily closed.

Dunlap Vision: Office will be open for limited hours to accommodate patients requiring immediate care. All other appointments will be accommodated at a later date. When deemed safe our office will contact each patient to schedule appropriately.

The Iroquois County Historical Society: Annual meeting followed by a presentation featuring an Abraham Lincoln speaker has been postponed but will be rescheduled.


Kankakee Community College Foundation Women’s Giving Circle Event: Will be rescheduled at a later date.


Kankakee Valley Theatre Association’s Mary Poppins Jr: Cancelled until further notice.


Knights of Columbus: Bingo is cancelled for the next two weeks, along with the Friday Fish Fries.


GSU Foundation Legends and Lions UnGala 2020: Postponed until further notice.


Olivet Nazarene University: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is cancelled for this semester.


Quality Inn’s Bridal Expo: Cancelled and postponed until further notice.


Salvation Army:

  • Dine-In Soup Kitchen program: Suspended until further notice. Alternatively, “to-go” lunches will still be available Monday-Friday from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
  • Walkthrough Food Pantry Program: Suspended until further notice. Alternatively, pre-packaged food pantry boxes will be available at the Social Ministries office door (530 E. Court St.) Tuesday & Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. while resources remain available.
  • Sheltering Services: Still being offered. Case Management for those seeking assistance with shelter, financial/utility assistance, and other case management services is available by appointment, as the waiting area will be closed to avoid close quarters crowds gathering. To make an appointment, call 815-933-8421. If you do not have access to a telephone, you can make an appointment at the Social Ministries Office door (530 E. Court St.)
  • VITA Tax Preparation Services: Suspended tentatively.
  • Bible Study and Women’s Fellowship Groups: Suspended until further notice.
  • Family Thrift Store Operations: Closed to the general public until further notice and donations of goods will no longer be accepted at the store.
  • Sunday Morning Worship Services: Live-streamed on The Salvation Army Kankakee Facebook page in place of traditionally meeting.
  • Administrative Office: Closed to walk-ins, but staff will remain available by phone/email during business hours. Pastoral Care is also available to those in need.

Rialto Square Theatre: Postponed or cancelled several events during the month of April.

The Village of Bourbonnais: Community Prayer Breakfast has been postponed and the Easter Egg Hunt has been cancelled.


Misc.

Bourbonnais Metro Centre: Open to individuals with appointments. All meetings of 10 or more people are cancelled until further notice. Pass and token purchases at the Bourbonnais Metro Centre will require an appointment. Benefit Access appointments are suspended until April 7. All ADA in person interviews were suspended until April 7, 2020. Applicants will be contacted for a phone interview. At this time, all River Valley Metro services are running as scheduled. St. Anne Catholic Church – Remaining Fish Fry Dinners have been cancelled.


The Joliet Diocese – All church activities and masses through Sunday (4/12) have been canceled. If the situation warrants, date may be extended.
