Space Heater is the Suspected Cause of Morning Kankakee Fire

Kankakee Fire was called to the 1100 block of North Chicago this morning for a home fire.  No one was in the house at the time of the blaze.  Officials believe the fire began in a bedroom of the single story home when the occupants went to work and apparently left a space heater on.  Damage is described as moderate.  The Red Cross is caring for the family until they can make other arrangements.  Fire officials suggest you don’t use a space heater, but if you do keep it at least three feet away from any combustibles.
